Matador Records have announced that they’ve signed Philadelphian troubadour Kurt Vile (yes, that’s actually his real name) and they’ll release his new album, Childish Prodigy, on October 5th, 2009.
The first MP3 from Childish Prodigy is the five-minute haunting ‘Overnite Religion’. Heavy with hazy acoustic loops, Vile’s vocal drawl is intimate yet immediate. To download the track go here.
Kurt Vile will tour the US in August with his crack ensemble The Violators. European tour dates to follow shortly.
