Back in 2006, The Brother Kite – a shoe-gaze band from Rhode Island – released in my opinion, one of the greatest records of an already stellar year in music. Beaten only by Midlake for my own personal album of the year Waiting For The Time To Be Right is a lush, perfectly orchestrated pop record. And one that was criminally overlooked too… In fact, I’d be suprised if 10 people in the UK own a copy. Go check out a couple of it’s songs (including the gorgeous title track) here.
A friend in the States messaged me on Twitter earlier today saying that the band have upped two demos from their as-yet untitled third album. On first listen, the Brian Wilson-esque vocals and harmonies are still at the forefront but with added synth and a more polished production (for demos at least) things are lucky very promising indeed for a stellar followup record. Judging by the interview I did with the band a few years ago, you can probably expect nothing but perfection either.
Listen to ‘Isolation’ and ‘The Scene Is Changing’ over on The Brother Kite’s ‘Bandcamp’ page here.
