I’m not exactly a language assistant Dan but I teach mostly business English in Grenoble. The Joanna Newsom connection was only in reference to ‘Two Doves’, which still sounds more chamber folk than R’N'B, don’t you think?

SE France…are you a language assistant by any chance? I’m loving this album so far. But I don’t hear the Joanna Newsom connection. Maybe musically, but not in Angel Deradoorian’s voice, which sounds just as R&B as anything, n’est-ce pas?

Yep, it’s a curious one this, somehow simulataneously experimental and a perfect summer soundtrack. Going down well here in sweaty south east France !
