You’ve picked the exceptions to the rule there! I submit to you the vast majority of the bands voted by “The Fans” are of a type that your average 18-year old flannel-shirted DiS reader would thoroughly endorse, whereas half the bands at Breeders were around before these selfsame kids were a twinkle in the milkman’s eye. That’s not a criticism, though- they were both ace festivals.

Er, in what way was the ATP Fans line-up “indie-schmindie”? I imagine calling Electic Wizard, Sleep, The Jesus Lizard et al “indie schmindie” might end up with you getting a fist right between the eyes from one of the many face-tattooed nutbars who were there that weekend.

Whereas Kimya Dawson and Bon Iver are pure metal, and Foals have nothing to do with Skins at all, no guv.
