If it wasn’t for Wilco, TLOBF wouldn’t exist. That might seem a bold statement, but it’ll be true. Therefore, it’s great to be able to announce that Wilco have decided to come to the UK this summer for a couple of dates!
They’re playing the rather lovely looking venue of The Troxy in London on August 25th, a slot a the Green Man festival on the 23rd, plus a date in Dublin’s Vicar Street on 27th.
As a warm-up to these live events, Wilco have finally release their long awaited live DVD. Called Ashes of American Flags, you could get it on limited release on Saturday as part of Record Store Day, but it goes on general release this very Monday!
The concert DVD is made up of performances from five venues – Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa, Tipitina’s in New Orleans, The Mobile Civic Center, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. – and is directed by Brendan Canty and Christoph Green.
To go alongside the release of the DVD, C4 will show 30 minutes worth of footage from Ashes of American Flags on April 24.

Good spot on the C4! From the snippets I’ve heard, the DVD sounds like Kicking Television should have – it sounded far too distant and watered down for me. As for the fashion quips – the DVD has the nudie suits. A difficult thing to pull off – as is the double denim in the pic above. Doesn’t look washed out enough yet to have the ‘Iron Maiden’ in marker pen across the shoulders.
i’m a huge fan of double denim. much to my wifes despair. i think with the right shoes, it can be pulled off.
back to the dvd – i can’t WAIT for it. ordered it a while back so should hopefully get it this week.. released today no?
looking forward to the album, but trying to hold off on excitment just in case i’m dissapointed a la sky blue sky. i think this will be a better record – but i wish they’d gotten big jim on board to produce/engineer.
