Lead track on the forthcoming Sonic Youth album The Eternal is available today as an MP3 download from iTunes and from the MataBlog here. ‘Sacred Trickster’, which clocks in at 2’10″ is an out-of-the-gate hardcore matinee track with Kim singing salutes to French painter Yves Klein and Western Massachusetts noise artist Noise Nomads.
To coincide with the album release (out June 8th), Matador are launching a new ‘Buy Early Get Now’ campaign. This means that if you pre-order (and pay) for the album at selected indies between now and May 22nd, you’ll get lots of extra material that won’t be available anywhere if you wait until it comes out to buy in the shops.
With the Buy Early Get Now package you get:
- a streaming code to listen to the album early, from 28th April
- an exclusive live vinyl LP recorded in New York on 4 July ’08 (subject to availability)
- an exclusive poster
- exclusive additional MP3 downloads of outtakes and more live material
Check out www.buyearlygetnow.com for more information.
Even more exciting news is that the band have announced an exclusive show next Monday 27th April at The Scala. Tickets are available to purchase online from 10am tomorrow (Tuesday 21st April) from www.gigsandtours.com
