It’s Wilco (The Album)

Wilco have named their new album, due for release in June… it’s going to be Wilco (The Album). Which, y’know, is better than it just being Wilco… I guess.

Anyway, Nonesuch are the lucky label to release it, and the album features a song with Feist and leads off with a track called ‘Wilco the song’… Are the band becoming self-aware?!?

Wilco (The Album):
01 Wilco the Song
02 Deeper Down
03 One Wing
04 Bull Black Nova
05 You and I
06 You Never Know
07 Country Disappeared
08 Solitaire
09 I’ll Fight
10 Sunny Feeling
11 Everlasting

GREAT news. Now then: is it going to be better than Sky Blue Sky?

Clue: My nan farting into a series of jam jars might just be better than Sky Blue Sky…

Oh, now, come on… SBS isn’t THAT bad… I listen to it quite a lot. It’s just not what we WANTED from a Wilco album that contained Nels Cline.

Oh no, big jim rules… I LOVE BIG JIM. But I still want a t-shirt with it on. It’s irony, innit. In fact, perhaps the t should say I LOVE BIG JIM on the back?

judging by the recent nudie suits and press shots :: COUNTRY

being there part 2? yes? that would be amazing thank you VERY much

Yeah – that recent press shot just says it all. Though, did anyone see the excerpt from the live DVD on channel 4 the other night? There’s still a hard edge to the older stuff – it’s still not straight country…

Wilco (the album), um, with a title this pretentious/awkward/lame, I’m worried about the music. From what I’ve seen of live performances, it seems Jeff may think his position in the rock world a little precious. There been a whiff of entitlement about the band recently, and the recent title compounds that concern. Nevertheless, I hope Wilco….(the album) is as good as YHF or GiB. *fingers crossed**breath held*

so i watched the live dvd last night for the first time and have to say it is a total and utter piece of shit.

    joke!

no – it’s amazing. AMAZING. the opener ‘ashes of american flags’ – is possibly the most beautiful piece of band performance ever captured on film. i’m serious. and it was in soundcheck too! i have goose bumps even thinking about it.

one thing though – that actually really annoyed me. through out the film – near the end really, each band member discusses one another – “yeah man nels is the shit on guitar” “glen saved the band” etc etc

    NO ONE MENTIONS PAT

and i really think that’s sad. cos not only is he a fucking talented bloke – he is probably the most underrated member of the current live lineup. and he is the best guitar windmiller ever. fact.
