Ok, so I might be a bit harsh with the headline… Latitude have announced the first acts to headline the festival this year and they’re a bit… well… SAFE.

The trio of Grace Jones, Pet Shop Boys and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds will head up each day, with support from Doves, Editors, Bat For Lashes and The Gossip. Belle and Sebastian will do a DJ set and Turin Brakes will, erm, play an acoustic performance…

Of course, it’s not ALL music at Latitude. The theatre stage features work from The Royal Shakespeare Company, National Theatre, The Bush Theatre, Paines Plough and Lyric Hammersmith.

Tickets are on sale now, priced at £150.

Latitude is held at Henham Park Estate, Suffolk.

Not sure grace jones is that great a pick as a headliner…the other two are stone cold greats….

GJ while perhaps an iconic figure seems a little surprising… But then the headlinersfor latitude are often a little meh. Im not sure who else theycould have had…. Elbow I guess but didn’t they play last year…

It’s all just a bit bland I think… they’ve always had a couple of knock out acts to kick off their announcements. It just looks like they’ve gone straight for the middle-aged, Guardian reading crowd without any sense of adventure.

Sonic Youth were being heavily rumoured, which would have been very interesting. It’s interesting that there’s a feeling going round that Festival Republic have massively dropped the ball – Grace Jones as headliner, a £20 weekend ticket price hike, a failure to name anyone but the headliners on their official site despite the BBC naming the others listed in this piece earlier the same day, no word on whether the tents are going to be bigger…
