Ex-NIN drummer finds novel methods of selling new record

joshfreese

Former Nine Inch Nails drummer Josh Freese will release a new solo album soon. This isn’t normally news we’d find ourselves particularly interested in, but this pricked our ears due to his sales technique.

The album will be called Since 1972 and, amongst the package deals offered by Freese,  is a version that comes with a T-shirt and five-minute “thank you” phone call. And that’s just the beginning – for more dollar comes more perks.

$20,000 will get one lucky fan a round of golf with Freese and close friends Tool’s Maynard James Keenan and Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh. That’s not all. The fan will receive a signed drum, a T-shirt, a personal tour of Long Beach, two songs “written about you” (made available on iTunes), a drum lesson or foot massage, and three items from Freese’s closet.

And the album… of course!
