It’s been 3 years since we last heard from French quartet Phoenix. Their third album 2006′s It’s Never Been Like That was a master-class in sophisticated euro-pop, and it sounds like they’ve put their time away to good use. The first taster from the new album Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix has been made available as a free download today; ’1901′ takes everything that was originally so great about Phoenix and steps it up about three notches production wise and has made me very, very excited about the new record. Which, incidentally is out May 25th.
