Cheers! Yes – I think it all went ok… no bookies stopped taking bets or anything…
Can’t we cheat and replace Vampire Weekend with The Wave Pictures? THEN it would be a good list ;-)
WOHOO FRIGHTENED RABBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sez I
I dun know how Evangelicals’ The Evening Descends was forgotten by every list I’ve seen…but I’m well okay with thisa one… except VW obv!
I’m with Jude – The Wave Pictures certainly should be on there. I like the Vampire Weekend, but not sure I “top 10″ like it.
Voting? Democracy? OVERRATED! ;-)
Just out of interest where did The Acorn appear? Were they even contenders for the top ten?
Atlas Sound? Where? Ah, just me then. Good to see the Dodos there though
FR? Weird.
At least TVOTR are in a good place, tho.
Yes..i think thee the lack of The Acorn and The Wave pictures weakens this list for me a little…Come on folks…..those are two records you need in your life!
still….well done to FR

Frightened Rabbit?? I’ve never heard of them, I’m ashamed to admit …
I’m a bit surprised Fleet Foxes didn’t win, and a little disappointed that Gregory And The Hawk didn’t do better, I’ve really warmed to that album lately.
I’m finding this really hard to agree with. I like Midnight Organ Fight quite a lot, it’s very good fun.
But, the lyrics are pretty awful. “Jesus is just a Spanish boy’s name / how did one man get so much fame” WHAT? The one truly great lyric I thought was “it takes more than fucking someone you don’t know to keep warm”, but then he repeats it over and over again, demolishing any impact it might have had.
Album of the year? REALLY?
Adam, what album would you say deserved it more than FR? I can’t think of one.
I think the list is pretty good the Tallest Man on Earth album should be there though, no matter how much it sounds like Dylan. Great album. Glad a list finally puts Bon Iver over Fleet Foxes though.
yeah the tallest man album is a real favourite of mine. though he hasnt got a record or distro deal over here in the uk yet (not through the lack of a certain label trying) – so really, we couldnt put it in the list. as the main criteria was that it had to have had a uk release in 2008.
