Asobi Seksu were on the original published line-up for the Sonic Cathedral stage but disappeared from it a couple of months ago... a shame, but it was still one of the best festival day line-ups I've ever seen. Kyte and Ulrich Schnauss were sublime but the Maps set was probably one of the best live sets I've seen this year...

Hello Tom Whyman! That's maybe the best writing ever maybe...

TTNG were pretty ultimate weren't they! Maps were another highlight for me, seriously fantastic. It was a shame Asobi Seksu didn't actually play anywhere despite people telling me all weekend that they were going to be the special guests in the Barn on Sunday night. I'm sure there was something official saying they were playing but yeah. To follow in yr bands not playing footsteps, I shall say they were my favourites of the festival.

See you soon. x

No mention of the mighty Ulrich Schnauss?

He mixed up Stars and Medusa with some other bits and pieces from his 3 albums and produced an awesome 35 minutes of electrodance-shoegazing!

He rocked.

Highlights for me:

The Early Years
The Tamborines
Kyte
('shoegaze' day in the Barn, generally, ruled)
Fonda 500
Okkervil River (a friend we were with describes them as the "Pitchfork Killers", which I think was meant to be an insult, but I think is spot on)

Disappointments:

The Lemonheads. Totally just going through the motions, playing-by-numbers, curtailed set, no interaction with the crowd.
Spectrum

This is such a great little festival. It feels like a village fete, but with really good music.

I had totally blanked out Dead Kids until I read this and now I'm having horror flashbacks, thanks for that. A strong contender for Worst Band I Have For Some Reason Tortured Myself By Watching (A Bit Of) come the end of year lists, I think...
