James Blackshaw annouces new album, plays the piano

Posted on 08 May 2008 by Rich Hughes

James Blackshaw has announced the follow-up to last years rather great The Cloud of Unknowing. The superlative acoustic axeman has even decided to put the guitar down for a moment to tickle the ivories; a Blackshaw first on record.

The album is to be called Litany of Echoes, and will still feature Blackshaw mainly playing the guitar, but the piano will add a touch of variation. The album also finds our man joined by Fran Bury, who contributes violin and viola. The record is due on June 17th, in the US anyway, from Tompkins Square.

Litany of Echoes:
01 Gate of Ivory
02 Past Has Not Passed
03 Echo and Abyss
04 Infinite Circle
05 Shroud
06 Gate of Horn

Catch him live, which is well worth it, at the follow venues:

May
16 London, England - Cafe Oto
17 Stockholm, Sweden - Ugglan Festival
20 London, England - St Giles-in-the-Fields Church
27 Paris, France - Mains D’oeuvres

July
08-10 Zaragoza, Spain - Expo Zaragoza
25-27 Haugesund, Norway - Safe as Milk Festival
