In our final installment of 20 Questions for 2007 (quick, someone pass me a tissue) we grabbed Young Husband (aka Euan Hinshelwood) by the scruff of his neck to answer our, by now legendary questions. And thank god he did! Otherwise, we’d never have found out about his 12th nipple. Where would you be without us supplying you with this vital information?
If you haven’t already sampled Young Husbands delightful psychedelic indie then head on down to the bottom of this post where you can pick up a live performace of “Painted Pictures”. Expect more 20Q’s in the new year with House of Brothers and The Twilight Sad to name just a few.

1. Describe your sound in 3 words.
Rock, Paper, Scissors
2. What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
Bob Marley – Legend. Virgin.
3. What’s the best cure for a hangover?
Complete denial.
4. What’s on your rider?
Someone else’s usually. Thief.
5. How do you get ready for a live show?
Pace around, annoy people, and sort out my upset stomach.
6. What’s your favourite song to play live?
“Painted Pictures”
7. What’s your guilty pleasure?
Smoking Gold
8. Who would win in a fight, a stoat or a goat and why?
It depends if there is a referee. If it’s a badger referee, then the stoat would win because of the farthing wood alliance. If it’s a mole then the goat, because of the current goat-mole peace treaty.
9. What was the last album you bought?
The Freed Man – Sebadoh (my spell check tried to turn sebadoh into ’seadog’, what a great name)
10. If you could rid the world of one song - what would it be?
The pending X factor single
11. Who would play you in a film based upon your life?
My friend Tom Kanji, he’s an actor and has just got his first west end thingy in the tempest.
12. Dead or alive. What 5 acts would you have play with you at a festival?

Pavement/Stephen Malkmus, Yo La Tengo, Elliott Smith, Radiohead with Syd Barrett guesting, Sonic Youth featuring a slow jam with Bob Marley
13. If push comes to shove, what is your all-time favourite album?
XO by Elliott Smith
14. What’s your most memorable on the road story?
Prizing 150 free sandwiches from boots. I’ve only been on 2 tours!
15. If your life flashed before your eyes, what would be the highlights?
Holidays in Scotland and France. Generally being young and innocent. The bleach and hot towel incident.
16. What’s the best piece of advice someone has ever given you and did you take notice?
‘Don’t do it, please, don’t. You’ll regret it. You’re doing it, shit. Euan’s doing it. Quick, somebody get bleach and a hot towel’
17. If you had to leave a body part to science, what would it be?
My 12th nipple, so others like me can get the answers they’ve been searching for.
18. What’s the best book you’ve read and film you’ve seen in the last 6 months?
Book - Le Grand Meaulnes by Alain-Fournier
Film – a toss up between ‘The Machinist’ and ‘Mephisto’
19. What three things could you not live without?
My brown fake cotton trousers, my ears, laughter.
20. Tell us a fact about yourself we probably don’t already know.
I once went to a farm and held an old turkey and then it…..no wait, you probably know that.

“20 questions with” is by far my favorite TLOBF feature (especially stoat vs. goat)… there is nothing better than a wacked sense of humour to turn me on to a new artist.
