We met up with Emmy The Great at a recent showcase at the Borderline. We were lucky enough to grab a quick word with her and schedule her to answer our tough and unforgiving 20 Questions. She reveled her love of pooing, tiny dog’s and how her life seem’s to involve her being a man at some point.

1. Describe your sound in 3 words.
“Not” “For” “Babies”.
2. What would be your ideal holiday?
In a room, by myself.
3. What’s the best cure for a hangover?
Death.
4. What’s on your rider?
I usually ask for a puppy but all I get is beer. It’s like Christmas all over again.
5. How do you get ready for a live show?
By frantically trying to find a plectrum, tuner, strap, or lead.
6. Favourite song to play live?
Depends on the audience really.
7. When was the last time you told a lie?
I lied just now.
8. Who would win in a fight, a stoat or a goat and why?
A boat would come out of nowhere and squash them both.
9. What was the last album you bought?
Semifinalists, I lost it and I bought it again. I love them.
10. If you could rid the world of one song - what would it be?
I don’t really hate any songs. I don’t think much of the catalogue of Robbie Williams. It’s too borderline. Either be really pop like Girls Aloud or actually be an indie band. Don’t mess around with an acoustic guitar and a co-writer.
11. Who would play you in a film based upon your life?
Lucy Liu / Gong Li / Annabelle Chong / Ken Hom / James Iha.
12. Dead or alive. What 5 acts would you have play with you at a festival.
Weezer, The Strokes, Get Up Kids, Billy Bragg, Joanna Newsome.
13. Desert Island Disc? Pick only one.
The Empire Eecords soundtrack.
14. What’s your most memorable on the road story?
Nothing interesting happens to me on tour. Sometimes I watch a bit of tv.
15. If your life flashed before your eyes, what would be the highlights?
It would be a slideshow of all the kitten pictures I’ve downloaded off the internet.
16. Do you read your own reviews?
Try not to.
17. Are you a morning bird or a night fox?
I sleep through the morning and after about 8pm I’m pretty tired so probably an afternoon kind of person. I like the afternoon cause that’s when I nap.
18. If you could travel back in time where would you set the dial?
Pride and Prejudice.
19. What three things could you not live without?
The phrase ’Gone Bananas’, my parents, pooing.
20. Tell us a fact about yourself we probably don’t already know.
I really, really want a tiny dog.
