nme is hilariously poor
a cool list being compiled by grown adults
reeks of the emotionally stunted

I agree with chris marling. What is the point in slagging NME off at all when it has done so much for indie/rock music, despite what you may beleive. At 18 I still buy it occasionally, whilst not giving a damn about the fact that it is now 'cooler' to say you hate it rather than admit you occasinally read it.

And more to the point, where the hell am I?

Seriously though, I think taking the piss out of NME is a bit like accusing Jackie of being unintellectual. Its been a comic for young teens for decades and 13-year-olds love all that shit, so good luck to them.

But it's a great gateway into 'alternative' music for young people - a stepping stone into the joyous world of bedroom misery, sixth form angst and all the joys that go with it. I still have cuttings from it from when I was wee - it introduced me to the kind of bands (and via them, the friends) I still love now, and for that I give praise. But slagging it off once you're past 17? What's the point?

Marvellous - it really does make you wonder if anyone actually thinks, after reading this, that they're any better an artist for appearing on that list.

Well, I guess it's nice to see some oldies in there too.
